Planning for Success: New Year of Resolution

The Love Calendar

One area many people stand to improve is in the area of romance. That is not one area we can slack on and keep up a high standard of performance. While most women seem to have a gift for keeping romance alive, they too need some work. Men, well, as suave as you may have been, the more years of marriage you have under your belt, the more at risk you are of slipping off your game. at risk… not certain slippage or shrinkage

As the year is still new and fresh, take a moment to dialogue with your partner about what is important for the family. It may not be the whole year if you’re not used to planning out in advance, but try a few weeks or months. Start blocking out time in the calendar for romance, for family chats, for family worship, family trips, and anything else that is important to keeping your family together.

Sure, writing things in a calendar may not feel romantic and spontaneous, but think about it this way; your boss is on your calendar and he/she doesn’t see you any less of an employee for being on your calendar. Same for your social events you place there. Same for birthdays you want to remember.

The calendar is a tool. Use it to help you keep up with what’s important for your family and it’s legacy. That includes a trip to IHOP too!

Before any “how-to” tips

Guys, seriously, write it in your calendar. Your wife doesn’t need to know that you wrote in a few strategic reminders to buy her flowers throughout the year. You’ll look like a hero for getting her the flowers throughout the year when all her girlfriends complain that since marriage, they no longer get flowers spontaneously. Same thing for reminders to take a stay-cation day twice a year (not limited to twice either) to clean up the house and leave rose petals on the bed for her out of the total random blue. You’re the hero for this. There is no shame in using your love calendar for good.

The same applies for all the plans and resolutions for the year you have for yourself and the family. Write down the steps you’ll take throughout the week, month, quarter, year. Book it in your calendar. Set notifications. Set reminders. Then, do it!

You’ll thank yourself later this year when you’re one one of the very few who has made the resolutions of the year come true.

Set yourself a set of smart goals and go conquer the year.

Wait. What? Smart goal? Yeah. Smart Goal. On the next page…
